2 Months Old!

We've had a good week so far. Tuesday, Madeleine and I met cousins Jenna, Natalie and Jack and Aunt Nancie for lunch downtown. It was so great to see them and for them to meet Madeleine. Madeleine was really well behaved and we made it through the whole lunch without any meltdowns. I call that a success.

Here are some pictures from today...

This is her new favorite place to sleep.
(Yes, that is a Sleep Sheep with an old iPhone stuck in it that is also blasting white noise.)

 Can't forget about Riley!

Sleeping beauty!

 So big!

Happy 2 months old Madeleine!

Daddy Daughter Dance

We had a lazy Sunday around here which was wonderful. I'm posting this at midnight as M has been asleep in her new bouncy chair since 8 p.m. I should totally be sleeping now... this could be my last chance all night!

Anyway, this was the highlight of my day and it just melts my heart every time I watch it. Love these two so much!

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Cameron and I met 8 years ago when I went to Atlanta to visit one of my best friends, Laura, for St. Patrick's Day. We went to Savannah and celebrated like most twenty-somethings do. This year, we went to Babies R Us and Carter's, and I tried to go to bed before 9.

Unfortunately, I didn't end up going to sleep though because M wanted to stay up until 1. She did, however, sleep from 1-6! She had a rough Friday night so I was really happy that we didn't have a repeat of that. Here are some pictures of M in her St. Patty's Day outfit!

Holding Daddy's hand! It's been a wonderful 8 years Cammy - love you!

Riley and Madeleine

Last night M slept from 8:45 to 1:45! Yes, that is 5 consecutive hours! Woohoo! She woke up about 4 times between 2 and 9 but after 5 hours rest, I didn't mind! Here are some photos from this morning...

Aren't they adorable???

This crab romper is so cute on her!

Sleepless in Charleston

"Back is Best" is the slogan for putting babies to sleep. Unfortunately, Madeleine does not like sleeping on her back.

The first few weeks we thought she wasn't sleeping very long because she was just young and hungry. A month later, it seemed to be getting worse. She started sticking her tongue out and grimacing, especially after nursing, and making terrible "throaty" noises that sound like choking when placed on her back. At a month old, I was lucky to get her to sleep for 1-2 hours. This makes for one REALLY exhausted mama. We started letting her nap in her rocking chair or swing and she slept better and without all the noises.

After a rough Friday night, we took her to the pediatrician (yes, our pediatrician has walk-in hours on weekends - so nice!) and they confirmed that she has a bit of reflux but she is gaining weight like a champ (she is up to 10 pounds!). He said to try an elevate the crib (we already tried a crib wedge but it's not high enough) and that I could try to cut out some dairy from my diet. Other than that, this is something she will have to outgrow. He was against medication because they don't know the long-term effects on infants.

At almost 7 weeks, M will only sleep in her swing. Although the pediatrician seemed to think it was okay for her to sleep in her swing, it makes me nervous that once the reflux is gone, she is going to have a hard time transitioning to the crib. And I really hate that she doesn't sleep in the safest place for her - on her back, in her crib - but we both need sleep so I guess for now this will have to do. She has begun to sleep for 3-4 hours this week but usually its around 2-3 hours. I'm really hoping that she will grow out of this soon!!!

Here she is in the only place she will sleep...

And when she would nap in her rocking chair...

The Nursery

The nursery is almost finished. Since we live in an apartment, there is only so much we can do but I think it's pretty cute.

Yes, the ugly Ikea futon is in the nursery. I've been trying to get rid of it for years but it actually has been pretty handy. The curtains are Gingham Blackout Shades from Potterybarn Kids.

I found this curtain rod at Target for $20.

The crib is the Munire Urban Lifetime Convertible Crib and will be converted into a toddler bed and eventually a twin bed (thanks Mom & Scott!). The bedding is from the Daisy Garden collection at Potterybarn Kids. I bought the name letters at a craft store and painted them myself.

I couldn't find a glider I liked that wasn't over $500 so we got the Poang Rocking Chair from Ikea. It's really comfortable and great for nursing.

The changing table is from Babies R Us but we got it off of Craigslist for $40. Bargain! The white wicker dresser is from my old bedroom set.

Next, I want to purchase a bookshelf for all of Madeleine's books. I'm thinking this one...

or how cute is this one...

I also found these customizable posters on redenvelope.com. I just can't decide which one I like better. This one...

or this one...

Feel free to leave a comment and let me know which one you like best.
